First Rule: Exam Eligibility and College Eligibility Are Different
You may be allowed to sit for an exam but still be ineligible for a particular college.
The safest method is to check the institute’s admission policy before paying any application fee.

Is Mathematics Compulsory for IPMAT?
Mathematics is not compulsory for every programme.
It was not compulsory for eligibility at IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak, IIM Ranchi, IIM Jammu or IIM Bodh Gaya in 2026.
It was compulsory for the IIM Shillong and IIM Amritsar IPM programmes and for several specialised BS programmes.
Even when Mathematics is not an eligibility subject, the entrance examination still contains Quantitative Aptitude.
What Should a 2027 Aspirant Do?
- Build a shortlist using the 2026 eligibility rules.
- Keep scanned copies of your Class X and XII marksheets, category certificate, photograph and signature ready.
- Recheck the date-of-birth, passing-year and subject requirements when the 2027 notification is released.
- Apply separately to score-accepting institutes before their respective deadlines.
Setwise can make this easier by helping students prepare a target-college checklist alongside their mock-test plan, so an avoidable application or eligibility error does not waste a year of preparation.
