The One-Line Difference
IPMAT Indore tests higher-level Quantitative Ability and Verbal Ability with sectional timers.
IPMAT Rohtak adds a complete Logical Reasoning section and places greater importance on speed.
JIPMAT combines Class X-level Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, and Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension in one 150-minute paper.
IPMAT Indore Syllabus
Quantitative Ability
- Arithmetic: Percentages, ratio, averages, profit and loss, mixtures, time and work, and time-speed-distance.
- Algebra: Linear and quadratic equations, inequalities, functions, logarithms, progressions and polynomials.
- Number System: Divisibility, factors, remainders, HCF-LCM and unit digits.
- Geometry and Mensuration: Triangles, circles, polygons, coordinate geometry, area and volume.
- Modern Mathematics: Sets, probability, permutations and combinations.
The same concepts appear in MCQ and Short Answer form.
Short Answer questions do not have options, so method and calculation accuracy matter more than elimination.
Verbal Ability
- Reading comprehension and inference.
- Para jumbles, sentence completion and paragraph logic.
- Vocabulary in context, synonyms, antonyms and word usage.
- Grammar, error spotting and sentence correction.
IPMAT Rohtak Syllabus
Quantitative Ability
Prioritise Arithmetic, Number System, basic Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration and data-based calculations.
The questions are generally more speed-oriented than the most difficult Quantitative Ability questions in IPMAT Indore.
Logical Reasoning
Cover arrangements, directions, blood relations, syllogisms, coding-decoding, series, clocks and calendars, statements and conclusions, Venn diagrams and basic data sufficiency.
Verbal Ability
Prepare reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, para arrangement, sentence correction and fill-in-the-blanks.
JIPMAT Syllabus
| Section | High-Value Topic Groups | Preparation Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Quantitative Aptitude | Arithmetic, Number System, equations, HCF-LCM, averages, mixtures, time and work, time and distance, and basic Geometry | Build speed on Class X concepts first |
| Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning | Tables, charts, caselets, series, arrangements, coding, directions, blood relations, syllogisms, clocks and calendars | Practise question selection and calculation together |
| Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension | Reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, sentence correction, para jumbles and fill-in-the-blanks | Read daily and solve timed sets |
Best Topic Order for All Three Exams
- Arithmetic and Number System.
- Grammar basics and daily reading comprehension.
- Algebra and Geometry.
- Core Logical Reasoning topics and easy Data Interpretation tables and charts.
- Modern Mathematics and advanced IPMAT Indore Quantitative Ability.
- Mixed sectional tests, followed by full mock tests.
A Simple Weekly Structure
- Three Quantitative Ability concept and practice sessions.
- Two Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension sessions, along with 20–30 minutes of daily reading.
- Two Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation sessions for IPMAT Rohtak and JIPMAT.
- One sectional test and one review session.
- Take one full mock every two weeks initially and increase the frequency as the examination approaches.
Reviewing a mock matters more than the total number of mocks attempted.
Mark every error as a concept, calculation, reading, question-selection or time-management error.
Setwise can be especially helpful here. A structured mock and analysis routine shows whether the next week should focus on Algebra, reading-comprehension accuracy, Logical Reasoning set selection or simply better pacing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the IPMAT syllabus officially fixed topic by topic?
Institutes publish the sections and test structure, but detailed topic lists are best understood through official sample papers and previous-year papers.
Prepare the recurring foundations instead of chasing “exact weightage” predictions.
Is Class XII Mathematics required for IPMAT Indore Quantitative Ability?
Class XII Mathematics is not required for eligibility, but the Quantitative Ability difficulty can extend beyond basic school-level Arithmetic.
Can CAT preparation material be used?
CAT material can be used selectively.
CAT Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation and advanced Quantitative Aptitude material can help strong students. However, IPMAT also requires school-level speed, vocabulary and exam-specific Short Answer practice.
